usual Persol excellence

If you select "one size" and your face size is average the glasses will likely be too small. In fact they are quite small. I believe they are a a 50, so I had to return mine. Be sure to select the 53.Otherwise they are the beautifully made glasses that can always be expected from Persol.

Cool Vintage Flair

This particular Persol model comes in at least five different color/ lens color combinations, which are all quite attractive-looking. The 'Green Stripe Brown'/ 'Crystal Green' (938/31) color combination which I ended up with, I believe, are the latest tortoise shell combination offered in this model. The tortoise shell is less 'fiery'-looking in person, and more tamed down/ classic looking-which I like. The green/ gray crystal lenses are also darker than one would imagine, which in my opinion, is a good thing.For my face shape and preference, I broiled down my frame selection between the 2978's (53 mm) and the Ray-Ban New Wayfarer's (55 mm), which are similar in size. If you are unable to try these on in person, I would say that the New Wayfarers sit slightly less tall on the face (despite the larger mm size), and are a touch wider in shape. The difference is, despite the larger mm size of the New Wayfarers, because the Persol's have a thicker frame. Additionally, in my experience, the Persol's don't quite tilt forward in the same way that the New Wayfarers do (i.e. the Persols do not tilt forward).Overall, I would say the Persols edge out NW at a similar price point. The 2978's offer more of a vintage flair, I think, than the NW and have better details. If you cannot try them on, it might be worth a risk if you're in the market for wayfarer-type frames.
